Proud Mary is a modern ode to Mary II, wife of stadtholder William III, who was known during the Dutch Golden Age as a collector of Delft Blue. This historical inspiration sparked the idea of giving Royal Delft's iconic Delft Blue a contemporary twist. The figurine consists of four interchangeable parts: the head, the collar, the bodice and the skirt. Proud Mary was designed by Koens & Middelkoop, and the Delft Blue artwork was subsequently hand-finished by the designers and master painters of Royal Delft.
