Our Story

Not too long ago, we came up with the idea to open a Christmas store in the historic city centre of Delft. In 2021, we started with a pop-up store and an online shop. Unfortunately, we had to close early due to the COVID pandemic, but in September 2022, we reopened our doors at Voldersgracht 5 in the picturesque old town of Delft.

We started The Christmas Shop out of our passion for Christmas. In the weeks leading up to the holidays, we go all out with a lavishly decorated tree, lots of Christmas lights, and a Christmas village. We also collect glass ornaments from various countries and places. Each ornament holds a memory and tells its own story in the Christmas tree. That same passion inspired the very first collection of The Christmas Shop.

Neither of us had experience running a retail store. Robin came from politics and Edwin worked as a software developer in recent years. Starting a physical store was a big step into the unknown and quite an adventure. Still, we launched the webshop in August and opened the doors of our very first pop-up store in Delft at the end of September 2021. What started as a hobby has grown into one of the few year-round Christmas stores in the Netherlands.

We began with a modest selection of glass baubles, ornaments, tree toppers, and nutcrackers. After two years, we have significantly expanded our range to include snow globes, music boxes, Christmas stockings, and festive mugs. Every January, we carefully curate our collection to include contemporary themes and decorations from a variety of brands.

We do our utmost to offer a unique assortment of Christmas decorations. For example, we carry various nutcrackers from Kurt S. Adler and Hollywood Adler that are hard to find elsewhere. Our handmade ornaments and tree toppers from Inge Glas Manufaktur are truly special additions to any tree. Of course, the Dutch brand Vondels is also an essential part of our collection.

For tableware and collectible items by Villeroy & Boch, you've come to the right place. This iconic Christmas brand with its signature dinnerware is a must-have for any year-round Christmas store. Alongside classic and nostalgic items, you’ll also find products that bring in new traditions, such as the Elf on the Shelf collection.

In addition to American Christmas brands and their typical ornaments, you'll also find British brand Gisela Graham among our offerings. This UK-based brand is known for refined, luxurious, and charming Christmas decorations made from materials like glass and polystone.

In both our Delft store and online shop, you’ll find products from small and local businesses. We believe in supporting fellow small entrepreneurs. For example, we offer a range of handmade Christmas earrings crafted entirely by hand in Zwolle.
