Description
Proud Mary Astonia features the historic Astonia décor: an elegant, classic pattern inspired by the lidded pot of pottery factory De Drie Postleyne Astonne. You can find a similar vase in the collection of the Royal Delft Museum. The deep blue lines are made extra chic by the gold accents in the design.
- Historic Astonia motif by Royal Delft
- Gold accents for a luxurious finish
- At approximately 17 centimetres tall, perfect as a decorative piece.
Proud Mary is a modern ode to Mary II, the wife of stadtholder William III, who was known during the Dutch Golden Age as a collector of Delftware. This historical inspiration sparked the idea of giving Royal Delft's iconic Delft Blue a modern twist. The figurine consists of four interchangeable parts: the head, the collar, the bodice and the skirt. Proud Mary was designed by Koens & Middelkoop, and the Delft Blue artwork was subsequently hand-finished by the designers and master painters of Royal Delft.
