The Grinch Village by Department 56

Buying the Grinch Christmas village by Department 56 at The Christmas Shop

The Grinch Christmas village by Department 56 is an officially licensed collection based on Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Piece by piece, you build up the world of Whoville: houses, figurines and accessories that recreate scenes from the story. At The Christmas Shop, a Christmas specialist with a shop in Delft, you'll find this collection alongside other collectable Christmas pieces. Each one is made to last and to set up again every season.

Lit houses from Whoville

The buildings are the heart of any Grinch Christmas village. Think of the crooked houses of the Whos, shops in cheerful colours and the Grinch's cave looming above the village. Many of the buildings are lit from the inside, so your village really comes to life in the evening. Pair them with a few snow globes with a Christmas village for an even cosier winter scene.

The figures: the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who and Max

The figurines bring the story together. The Grinch in his knock-off Santa suit, little Cindy Lou Who with her big red bow and loyal dog Max standing in as a reindeer: scenes any fan will recognise. Each figure is hand-painted in fine porcelain, with detail down to the smallest expression. If you like small scenes, our nativity sets offer a related way to collect.

Department 56 and its Christmas villages

Department 56 is one of the best known names in collectable Christmas villages. This American maker has been producing lit miniature worlds for generations, from classic snowy streets to licensed series like this one. The Grinch village stands out for its humour and colour: where other villages lean on nostalgia, this one leans into mischief. That is exactly what makes it a favourite starting point for collectors and Grinch fans. Browse the rest of our Christmas decorations for more ideas.
