Food & drinks

The aroma of a Christmas dinner, a table slowly filling up, and a tree that joins in the atmosphere. Glass Christmas ornaments shaped like food and drinks bring some of that evening into the branches: a glinting pineapple, a mouth-blown coffee bean, a miniature bottle of gin. Small, eccentric, and rarely overlooked.

Food and drink Christmas ornaments at The Christmas Shop

Christmas ornaments in the shape of food and drinks are the eccentric addition to classic Christmas tree decorations. The collection runs from fruit and vegetables to pastries, sweets, coffee accessories and miniature bottles of spirits. Many ornaments are mouth-blown and hand-painted in Europe, including by Inge Glas Manufaktor, the Bavarian family business that has produced glass ornaments for more than a hundred years. An aubergine, a macaron, a miniature bottle of gin: each piece stands on its own.

Fruit and vegetables in the tree

Fruit has belonged in the Christmas tree from the very beginning: the Germanic peoples decorated their trees with apples and pears as a symbol of fertility as early as the first century. That tradition lives on in glass ornaments such as an apple, a pear, a banana or a slice of watermelon. For the more eccentric collector there are vegetable shapes too, like an aubergine or a potato that you won't easily find elsewhere.

Cake, coffee and sweets

For the baker, the coffee drinker and the sweet tooth, the collection has its own corner. Hang a pastel macaron, a slice of cake topped with cream, or a cup of coffee that looks warm enough to pick up. A single copper-coloured coffee bean works beautifully between gold baubles. For lovers of gingerbread, our gingerbread Christmas ornaments add another layer.

Savoury snacks and miniature bottles

A Dutch Christmas tree deserves a Dutch wink. Decoris made a glass ornament of three bitterballen with mustard and a small flag, plus a kaassoufflé for the full effect. For the drinks corner there are miniature bottles of gin and whiskey by Inge Glas, hanging in the branches like their own little bar. The whole collection is also on display in our shop in Delft.
