Heartwood Creek is the collection that made Jim Shore's name, and the style you will spot in almost every piece. The patterns come from the folk art European immigrants carried to America: Scandinavian rosemaling, quilting of the kind his grandmother made, English appliqué. Those motifs run across the coat, the beard and the base, so a figure reads as his from across the room. Since every piece is painted by hand, no two are quite identical.
