Buying Gisela Graham at The Christmas Shop
Our Gisela Graham collection runs to more than two hundred pieces: tree ornaments, festive tableware, scented candles, snow globes, and even a complete nativity scene. The designs are easy to recognise by their storytelling detail: a rabbit in a little red coat, a gingerbread house with snow on the roof, a dragonfly with delicate glass wings. Many figures are cast in resin so that the fine detail is preserved. Prices run from around five euros for a small ornament to about sixty euros for a lit Christmas figurine.
From a kitchen table in London to an international Christmas brand
Gisela Graham started her business in the 1980s from her own kitchen in London. What began as a small project around self-designed seasonal decoration grew into an international brand with more than two thousand products a year, spread across roughly sixteen thematic collections. The design work still happens in-house in London, with a permanent team releasing new pieces each season. In England the brand has become a fixture in both specialist shops and independent Christmas stores.
The Gisela Graham gingerbread collection
One of Gisela Graham's most popular lines is devoted to gingerbread, the British counterpart to Dutch speculaas and just as tightly bound to Christmas. The gingerbread ornaments include stars, stockings, nutcrackers and houses, all with fine white icing lines as though they've just come out of the oven. The larger figurines have an LED inside, so the entire gingerbread house lights up from within. Typical of Gisela Graham: the gingerbread house design also shows up on a snow globe, a scented candle and the paper napkins.
Alice in Wonderland and other storytelling collections
The Alice in Wonderland collection is perhaps the most distinctive of all Gisela Graham's work. The Cheshire cat with its grinning smile, the white rabbit in a red coat and blue ruff collar, Absolem the wise caterpillar, and even Lewis Carroll's book as an ornament: pieces you won't easily find anywhere else. Alongside Alice, Gisela Graham designs seasonal lines including A Nordic Christmas, Alpine Christmas, and the classic Nostalgia look with Father Christmas, sleighs and reindeer.
Festive tableware and scented candles in the Nostalgia collection
Nostalgia is one of Gisela Graham's best-known collections, recognisable by its soft palette of red, green and cream and a recurring vintage Christmas print of sleighs, holly and Victorian Santas. In this style we stock a cup and saucer, a bowl and a large serving dish in porcelain, plus matching scented candles. Made for the host who wants to set the whole table in one style, or for collectors adding to a set year by year.
