Disney nutcrackers

Two Christmas traditions meet on the mantelpiece: the stern wooden guard from German folklore and the cheeriest mouse in animation. Disney nutcrackers by Kurt S. Adler put Mickey and Minnie in the classic uniform, hand-painted right down to the buttons. Christmas with a wink, in other words.

Buying Disney nutcrackers at The Christmas Shop

A nutcracker is a decorative wooden figure that has guarded the winter season for centuries, traditionally shaped as a soldier or a king. A Disney nutcracker swaps that uniform for a familiar face: at The Christmas Shop you will find Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, officially licensed and made by Kurt S. Adler.

What sets these apart from the rest of our wooden Christmas nutcrackers is how carefully the character is handled. Not a generic mouse in a red coat, but the proportions, the ears and the gloves you would recognise anywhere. Each figure stands on a solid wooden base, tall enough to hold its own on a mantelpiece or windowsill.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as nutcrackers

Mickey and Minnie come both separately and together. The solo figures each have their own colour scheme, nodding to how you know them from the screen. The largest of the three sets them in a winter scene: on the hat, Mickey and Minnie skate past a decorated Christmas tree. That kind of storytelling on the hat is typical of the Hollywood Nutcrackers range. Collectors often find that a Disney figure lightens up a more traditional shelf.

Carved in wood, painted by hand

Wood carries the whole figure, from the base to the face. Finer elements are cast in resin, which holds sharper detail than turned wood can manage. The range is designed by Holly Adler for the Hollywood Nutcrackers line at Kurt S. Adler, a brand we have carried for years. If you would like to see the finish up close, our nutcrackers are also on display in our shop in Delft.

Building a Disney Christmas

A nutcracker works best with company. Carry the theme through with Disney Christmas baubles featuring Mickey, Minnie or Alice in Wonderland, so that the tree and the mantelpiece belong together. Right at the top, one of our Disney tree toppers finishes the job. Start with one figure and build the scene up over the years.
