Buying angel Christmas ornaments at The Christmas Shop
The Christmas angel has long symbolised protection and the bringing of good news, and is one of the oldest figures to grace the Christmas tree. You'll find her too in our nativity scenes. Glass angels by Goodwill
Most of our angels come from Goodwill, the Belgian brand that has been designing hand-painted glass ornaments since 1986. Goodwill angels are easily recognised by their richly decorated skirts, often set with glitter in gold, silver or white, and by the detail in their hands: one holds a small book, another a flame, a heart or a star. Sizes range from a small piece for the tree to the largest, an angel of nearly half a metre tall.
Mouth-blown angels from Bavaria
For something more individual we also stock the angels by Inge Glas Manufaktor from Bavaria. Each ornament is mouth-blown and hand-painted in their own factory, a tradition passed down through generations. The result is an angel with an antique feel, with metal wings and a softly glittered cloud. No two are quite alike, which is why they're loved by collectors who add to their Christmas tree decorations year after year.
The angel beyond the tree
A Christmas angel doesn't have to hang in the tree. The richly decorated glass angels by Goodwill look just as lovely on the mantelpiece, a sideboard or the festive table. Some are open underneath and suitable for a tealight, so the candle lights the angel from within.
